I bought this one from Steve in Montrose, Michigan in November
of 1999. At the same time, he sold me a Toledo
and Pat
Hand .
Dave also traded is Spin-a-Card
for Steve's Spin-a-Card.
I'm ashamed to admit that my restoration on this one took over 2 years. During that
time, at least 5 games went in and out of my workshop while this one just sat there. The
big issue for me was the blue paint. Right in front of the right slingshot, it was worn
down to the wood. It was also down to the wood in a few places up by the pop bumpers. It
was perfect by the left slingshot. My wife and I tried several times to get the touch up
paint to match, but I was never satisfied. We would start, then quit, then start again.
Finally we just gave up and repainted ALL of the blue by the pop bumpers and slingshots. I
must have done 6 or seven coats with lots of wet sanding in between. It came out beautiful
as you can see in the pictures. I put on 6 coats of varathane and it's ready to go.
The game plays great and it's one my favorites now. |
