Galerie dApollon This is where the French
Crown Jewels are kept. The ceiling and walls in this room are unbelievable. Look at the
Objets dart in the glass cases. They only allow a limited number of people in the
room at a time. If there is a line, just wait. If it is closed the day you go, make sure
you go back. Room #66 on the 1st floor! |

The Regent Diamond - 140.64 metric carats This diamond was discovered in India in 1698 and acquired by Thomas Pitt,
Governor of Madras, who sent it to England where it was cut. The Regent purchased it from
Pitt for the French Crown in 1717. This diamond is in the Apollo Gallery |

Hyacinthe Rigaud 1659-174 Portrait of Louis XIV
(1638-1715)
This painting was supposed to be a gift to Philip V, grandson of Louis XIV and King of
Spain. This portrait of the Sun King was considered so fine at the Court of Versailles
that it remained in France. |

Marley Courtyard & Cour Puget These used to be
open courtyards. They are now covered with a glass top and put have some great original
statues in there. They are from Louis XIVs Marley retreat/palace. The palace was
destroyed during the French Revolution. The statues were dispersed all over France and
they have been trying to Gather them and display them here. They are the original statues
from the late 1600s. There are cast copies of them in the Tuileries Gardens |
