The Champs-Élysées runs from the Arc de Triomphe to the Concorde. There
are a wide variety of businesses along the way - airline offices, car showrooms, shopping
arcades, movie theaters, cafes and of course the Lido cabaret. Every year the Tour de
France bicycle race finishes here.
The stretch between the Rond-Point roundabout and Concorde is bordered by
chestnut trees and flower beds. The two massive buildings rising above the greenery to the
south are the Grand and Petit Palais - both are topped with impressive statuary. They
house a number of museums and the Grand Palais is the address for major cultural
exhibitions. |
